Along with the beginning of the academic year 2011/2012, the activities of the youth section in the Warsaw Club of Catholic Intelligentsia have started. To provide information about our current events and actions to our friends from Catholic movements worldwide, we are starting to publish monthly briefs (in English).
- A programme of discussion meetings on the Catechism of the Catholic Church has been launched. The participants read the Catechism together, chapter by chapter, and discuss it with the Section's chaplain, the Revd. Dr. Sławomir Szczepaniak, philosophy lecturer. The discussion are being held in the atmosphere of mutual understanding and openness – we focus on the issues which we do not understand or do not agree with and explore the Church's teaching together. The two meetings so far have concentrated on the first two chapters of the Catechism: One Man's Capacity for God and God Comes to Meet Man.
- Drum Bun was invited by the authorities of the Capital City Warsaw to join the youth policies advisory team, which meets fortnightly. The section is currently represented by Jan Murawski, its president and the ideas for each thematic meeting are discussed between our members in advance so that not only the opinion of the representative is voiced. This month we have discussed the possibilities of youth participation at grass-roots level. The problem of poor information flow was identified as key – young people often do not know what are the possibilities of them getting engaged in an activity for the common good or what initiatives have already been taken.
- Before the parliamentary elections (October 9th), a meeting about the parties' programmes has been conducted – an attempt to provide objective information without suggesting any certain political option.
- The tradition of Thursday informal integration meetings is being fostered.
